Donating Your Car: How Cars of Hope Gives It Away

This is what makes the Cars of Hope team unique when you decide where you are donating your car:

  1. We seek to obtain vehicles with significant life left in them.
  2. We arrange for prudent repairs at professional car repair shops providing nonprofit service to increase car reliability.
  3. We implement a detailed process to match the car to an identified need in our community.

Next Step After Donating Your Car: We Celebrate!

Then we come to that wonderful time, the fruits of our labor: the Donation Celebration! This is a brief event where we celebrate the act of donation by the donor. Then we officially give the car to family whose need we have identified. The recipient is supported by a sponsoring organization. That organization contributes by covering the cost of title transfer, obtaining license plates and first 6 months of full car insurance coverage. 

And celebrate we do! This is a GREAT time of JOY—not only for the recipient of the car, but also for the original donor (in some cases) and, of course, the Cars of Hope team.

The Cars of Hope Team

Everyone on the Cars of Hope Team is a volunteer with the mindset of helping families who have fallen on hard times financially and show promise in becoming financially independent again. New volunteers are always welcome to the Cars of Hope team.

That is why the decision to donate a car to Cars of Hope can be beautiful thing! Cars of Hope is the only 501(c)3 charitable organizations that gives cars to deserving families in need of a car throughout many Chicagoland areas.
