For families struggling to make ends meet, reliable transportation can mean the difference between stability and hardship. A car provides access to jobs, childcare, medical care, and essential resources, helping individuals regain independence and rebuild their lives.
To help these families Cars of Hope partners with trusted social service organizations in Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Will, and Grundy counties to donate cars to deserving families who have fallen on hard times. Through these partnerships, we identify those most in need and provide safe, reliable vehicles to help them move forward.
When you donate your car, you’re not just getting rid of an unused vehicle—you’re giving a family hope. Every donated car helps a single mother get to work, a young family regain financial stability, or an individual in crisis access critical services.
We accept all cars—running or not—and either repair them for donation or use their value to support our mission. Your contribution directly impacts families in your community, helping them become self- sufficient once again.
Looking to make a difference? Donate your car and be part of changing lives one car at a time.

Important Notice About Our Partners
To be eligible to apply for a car through Cars of Hope, you must already be working with a social
service agency. Please do not contact any of our partner organizations solely to apply for a car. Our partners assist individuals and families with a variety of services, and car applications are only available through existing case management relationships.
If you are in need of a vehicle, we encourage you to work with a local social service agency that can assess your overall situation and determine the best path forward. If that agency is interested in becoming one of our partners as a means to help you with transportation needs, please encourage them to contact us.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
